Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents, Winona Ryder's parents, named her for the town she grew up in. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father was from an ethnically Jewish background. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria as well as half-siblings Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder's family moved from Mendocino County to California, when she was just seven. There was no electricity. Ryder became an avid book reader because there was no TV. Ryder started to take acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12. Lucas the film, which was released in 1986, was her first major character. Ryder was just 15 when she got it. Ryder faced bullying in high school. Ryder believed that if she became an actor, her behavior would be changed. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. However, she pushed on with her dreams. In 1988 she had her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play successful roles in many movies. She was nominated for two Academy Awards one for her performance as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
